Our world needs gifted leaders with bright minds, compassionate hearts and exceptional character. The church needs bright, compassionate and exceptional young people who hear a calling to serve God’s world as pastoral leaders. That is why The Fund for Theological Education (FTE) offers fellowships to gifted students preparing to become leaders in God’s church.
FTE offers, through a competitive process, fellowships for undergraduates interested in exploring ministry, for those bound for their first year of seminary, and for those in their second year of seminary. See details below:
Undergraduate Fellowships for Young Leaders Exploring Ministry
- Faculty, administrators, clergy nominate candidates (download nominating form)
- Candidates are current sophomores or juniors with 3.0 GPA, exceptional leaders; have interest in ministry; under 30
- Fellowships include $2,000 award, Conference on Excellence in Ministry
- Nomination deadline: Feb. 1
- Application deadline: March 15
Ministry Fellowships for Second-Year Seminary Students
- Deans or presidents of ATS-accredited institutions nominate candidates (view criteria).
- Candidates are first-year, full-time M.Div. Students; have completed one semester with a 3.3 GPA or higher; minimum 3.0 undergraduate GPA; 35 or younger
- Fellowships include $10,000 award, Congregational Leadership Intensive, Conference on Excellence in Ministry
- Nomination and application deadline: March 1
Congregational Fellowships for Students Entering Seminary
- Congregations nominate candidates, commit $2,000-$5,000
- Candidates are entering M.Div. students with 3.0 GPA, preparing for pastoral ministry; 35 or younger
- Fellowships include matching $2,000-$5,000 award, Conference on Excellence in Ministry
- Nomination and application deadline: April 1
